Basically, the members of the Korean Society of Gastroenterology are divided into regular members, associate members, honorary members and life-time members, however, regular members, associate members and honorary members had not been clearly distinguished until 1997, and the society had mostly been led by life-time members. Since the 3rd general meeting in 1997, we decided the qualification of regular member as medical boardman in various subspecialties who major in the field of gastroenterology and who submitted the application form and paid the annual membership fee according to the rule of the society. This decision has been applied from the spring of 1998.
