Dear members of the Korean Society of Gastroenterology
New council members who will lead our society were selected November 17, 2011. In this year, our society celebrated 50th anniversary of founding, and published memorial book.
As you know, it is expected that management of our society will meet the difficulty alike other academic societies. In addition, a number of members who show eagerness for our society's meeting have been decreased due to new foundation of many sub-divisional societies. Considering this situation, we try to ensure internal stability instead of expanding novel business.
Our society will meet 100th anniversary 2061. I believe that our society will be continuously developing based on the mission and vision suggested by ex-Chief Director Sun-Whe Kim. However, as new councilor members who have to prepare new 50 years, I am keeping in mind that all records related to our society should be prospectively preserved. All members will agree with my opinion that retrospective recording for past events is insufficient. I assure you, all records about annual meeting and other conferences hosted by our society will be prospectively preserved according to formal protocol in advance. It makes to reduce several obstacles to preparing the 100th anniversary of our society.
Cutting-edge technologies in our field have been discussed in sub-divisional societies. Therefore, I want our society to deal with a matter of life and death, and several issues about hospice care which have been not discussed in other society. To obtain this, I established an ethic committee, and I am sure that this topic will be openly discussed in our society through the symposium. I expect member's continuing interests and participations in the efforts to be devoted to original mission as physicians who are treating human composed with body and soul.
